Cases where they say they only want counseling and not to report harassment
An employee came to see me saying there was an uncomfortable situation within the team.
He says he does not want to file an official report yet, and just wants his side of the story to be heard for now.
They also say that it is burdensome for the other person to find out immediately.....
I held the interview because I thought it was right to listen to them first, but I am wondering if I should keep a record of it in this case.
I feel like leaving it without any records would make it difficult to respond if the problem escalates later, but if I document it as too much of an official procedure, the employees might feel burdened...
How do other companies handle requests for unofficial consultations like this?
Would it be appropriate to keep at least a simple record of the interview?
