How do you establish reporting standards for management when the deadline for completing corrective measures is delayed?
Hello. I am responsible for risk assessment and corrective action management at a manufacturing plant. A recent assessment indicated that improvements are needed for equipment safety devices, local exhaust ventilation systems, and pedestrian flow; however, the completion deadline for some of these measures is being delayed due to parts delivery schedules and budget approval issues.
Currently, we are recording the original and revised deadlines in the corrective action log and applying temporary protective measures. However, when reporting to management, simply indicating "in progress" does not seem to effectively convey the current level of risk and the significance of the delay.
Therefore, we are reviewing a plan to report the risk level, reason for delay, temporary measures, new completion deadline, required budget, and work sustainability together. We are also considering whether to report every time the deadline is changed, and whether to apply different reporting standards for high-risk and general items.
What items must be included in the management report when the completion deadline for corrective actions is delayed? By which criterionโnumber of delays, risk level, or budget sizeโshould immediate reporting be distinguished from periodic reporting?
