October 10 Mental Health Day | Nudge EAP Community October Mental Health Content Guide
In celebration of Mental Health Day on October 10, the Nudge EAP community How to connect employee voices to actual organizational support systems and operational improvements We cover this in depth.
Instead of limiting mental health content to 'individual stress management,' Gathering employee feedback → Identifying risks → Connecting with support → Improving the work environment → Follow-up inspection We examine this from the perspective of organizational operations extending to.
🗓️ October 10th is Mental Health Day.
In accordance with the Mental Health and Welfare Act, Korea designates October 10 of every year as Mental Health Day and observes the week including Mental Health Day as Mental Health Week. The World Health Organization (WHO) also commemorates October 10 as World Mental Health Day, promoting mental health awareness and support actions worldwide.
The theme of the 2026 WHO campaign is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change” It is a message to go beyond simply listening to the experiences of the parties involved and actually reflect them in policies, services, and decision-making.
📢 The Nudge EAP Community connects 'listening' to 'operational improvement'
The October mental health content is structured around standards that HR, health, safety, and organizational culture managers can apply in actual organizational operations, rather than simply providing personal mental health management tips. The focus is on listening to employees' voices without singling out individuals, dividing roles when warning signs appear, and clarifying the respective responsibilities of managers and EAPs.
| October Content Festival | Content to be covered in the community | Questions for the person in charge to check |
|---|---|---|
| employee voice | Safe utilization of job stress survey, free-form, inquiry, and counseling data | At what level can employee experience be linked to organizational improvement? |
| Crisis Response | High-risk signals, internal contact network, colleague and manager communication | How do you distinguish between emergencies and general consultations? |
| Administrator role | Interviews, work adjustments, EAP guidance, recurrence prevention | How much should the manager listen to, and from where should they connect to professional support? |
| EAP Operation | Confidentiality, accessibility, continuity of service, operational indicators | Can the program be improved without reviewing the counseling content? |
| Organizational improvement | Improvement of workload, roles, relationships, and accessibility to systems | Are we treating individual difficulties solely as personal problems? |
🔎 In October, we will cover this type of practical content sequentially.
Around Mental Health Day, we will intensively publish announcements, guides, and Q&A content related to mental health, and afterwards, we plan to continue addressing operational issues that frequently occur in the organization through bulletin boards on burnout/job stress, suicide prevention/mental health, and EAP/psychological counseling.
| Content Type | Planned direction |
|---|---|
| Official Guide | Mental health policies, crisis response, job stress, operating standards for counseling and support systems |
| Question-based Q&A | A collection of actual questions from the inquiry board providing answers to issues frequently asked by HR, Health, and Safety managers. |
| data types | Immediately usable practical materials such as checklists, record sheets, and inspection sheets |
| English content | Explaining Korea's workplace mental health operating standards from a global HR perspective |
| Case Studies and Operational Insights | Summary of recurring problems and areas for improvement in organizational operations, without specifying individuals. |
💬 How do we handle 'employee voices'?
What is important in the 2026 WHO message is not merely surveys or the collection of opinions themselves. It is that people with actual experience must be able to influence services and decision-making. Companies also need a process that goes beyond simply collecting employee feedback; they must classify where recurring difficulties stem from—whether through workload, roles, managerial communication, or access to support—and verify whether improvements are necessary.
At the same time, individual counseling content or health information must not be excessively utilized as data for organizational improvement. Incorporating employee experience into organizational decision-making is a different matter from disclosing sensitive information that can identify individuals.
🧭 Items HR, Health, and Safety Managers Should Check in October
| Confirmation items | Checkpoint |
|---|---|
| Support Channel | Do employees know available channels such as EAP, health managers, and mental health welfare centers? |
| Crisis Response | Does the internal communication network actually function when immediate danger signals, such as suicide, self-harm, or harm to others, occur? |
| Administrator's Guide | When a manager hears about an employee's difficulties, can they verify safety, coordinate tasks, and connect with experts, rather than diagnosing or interrogating? |
| Confidentiality | Is the usage status and content of counseling unnecessarily shared with managers and the organization? |
| Organizational improvement | Are you identifying the causes of recurring stress in terms of workload, roles, relationships, schedules, and systems? |
| Post-inspection | After implementing the program, do you check accessibility, perceived effectiveness, and improvement measures, rather than just looking at usage rates? |

- 03CommentsWe also have a lot of short-term contract workers during peak season, so I get confused every time I have to handle the training for rehired employees. I'm also curious how other places handle cases where contracts are renewed immediately without any gaps.132226.10.21
- 01coach AnswerHello, this is Nudge EAP ☺️ You should group tasks based on whether the actual work type and conditions are the same, rather than the process name. Tasks can be considered the same if the worker posture, number of repetitions and time, handling weight and frequency, movement, and equipment and tools are similar. Therefore, even within the same assembly process, it is better to separate "seated assembly" and "standing assembly while moving materials" into separate tasks. First, list the detailed tasks within the process and compare them using the criteria above; separating only the tasks with significant differences makes organization easier, even with a large workforce. If there are multiple tasks under the same conditions, you can select a representative sample that includes the worker with the highest workload. The KOSHA guide suggests using at least two tasks with high work intensity as a sample when there are 10 or fewer identical tasks. Shifts can be grouped together if the equipment, workload, speed, and personnel are the same, but if the conditions differ, please separate them by shift. For rotation workers, you can make a judgment by recording all detailed tasks performed during the day, along with the time and frequency of each. For the final classification, confirm the opinions of on-site workers, and if you record the basis for the grouping on the survey form, it will be easier to explain during inspections.753326.09.18

- 03coach AnswerHello, this is Nudge EAP.☺️ The simplest method is for employees to simply receive guidance and apply directly, as the company does not transfer personal information. If you want a health manager to forward a name and contact information to an EAP agency for contact, it is safer to explain the receiving agency, purpose, items, retention period, and the right to refuse consent, and to obtain clear consent from the individual. Since checkup results and symptoms are sensitive health information, do not consider them included in the existing health checkup consent; instead, please write down only the content to be conveyed and obtain separate consent. In practice, it is common to separate the options into ① consent for forwarding name and contact information and ② consent for forwarding checkup results and symptoms, ensuring that there is no disadvantage in using the EAP even if the second option is not agreed to. The burden of repeating explanations can be reduced by providing the option for employees to send a summary of their consultation request, written directly by the employee, to the agency. However, since the wording and procedures may vary depending on whether the contract with the EAP agency involves the outsourcing of personal information processing or the provision of information to a third party, please review the contract details with your in-house personal information manager before implementation. It is a good idea to define the scope of responses in advance to the company to prevent unnecessary feedback regarding consultation requests or their content.668926.09.21
